What does External Wall Insulation do?
Much the heat you put into your home or business premises is lost because heat always flows spontaneously from hotter to colder bodies. This means that when the temperature inside your home is greater than the temperature outside, heat will transfer through the elements of the building (e.g. walls, roof, windows) and try to heat the atmosphere outside.
Up to 35% of your heat is being lost through your walls!
Adding External Wall Insulation from Greenhus will drastically reduce the heat that’s being lost through your walls. Here’s how.
Each element of your home or business premises has its own u-vale. A u-value is a way of measuring heat loss. (The lower the number, the less heat is lost through that element of the building.) It can be explained technically, or considered as a concept, although in either case we simply want to reduce the size of the number.
By reducing the u-value of your walls, Greenhus will reduce the amount of heat (and money!) you’re losing.
What is a u-value? (Heat loss explained simply)
A u-value is expressed in W/m2K and indicates the amount of heat lost through each square metre of the building element for each degree Kelvin temperature difference across the building element (“across the building element” is effectively inside the building and outside the building).
A simpler way to understand heat loss is to just look at the numbers:
The u-value of a solid brick wall is in the region of 1.8 W/m2K.
Installing External Wall Insulation from Greenhus will reduce the u-value to around 0.3 W/m2K
This means the amount of heat lost through your walls has reduced by 5/6! (Don’t just take our word for it – have a look at what people say.)
(Please remember that you won’t see such a dramatic drop in your heating bills, as heat will still be lost through windows and doors, which have much higher u-values and are therefore much less resistant to heat loss.)
